Great! Having years of experience with Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Zumba, or even Ballroom can help you progress faster but the hardest aspect of partner dancing is the lead or follow. We suggest you start with our Beginners courses to learn the lead and follow techniques specific Urban Salsa.

No, you do not need to bring a partner. Sure, having someone to attend class with would be nice, but we have plenty of students that attend class on their own. We generally have a good ratio of lead and follows and we rotate partners throughout the class. It is not mandatory to rotate partners but it is highly recommended as it is vital to learning how to lead and follow. It's also a great way to meet all your fellow students and make new friends.
It is recommended to dress casually and comfortably. Sneakers are fine in the beginners classes but as you progress, dance shoes are recommended. Wear shoes that are secure on your feet, high heels and sandals are not recommended. It can get warm when you dance so be sure to wear clothes that breathe. You may work up a sweat as well so be sure to spray on some deodorant.
This is entirely up to you, and like many, it may depend on your availability. Salsa On1 is the most style and is considered the most difficult, but once you know how to Salsa, everything else is easy. For more info on dance styles and scheduling, hit the button below.
We understand that attending group dance classes can be very daunting, but we pride ourselves on creating a safe and fun environment for all Urban Salsa students. Check our reviews to see what our students have to say about their personal experiences.

Level 2 is for dancers that have learnt the basics in our Beginners course and is designed to help students build on the fundamentals of the dance. Level 2 has eight modules and each module contains different material. A single module is covered over the 5-week term. A minimum of four modules must be completed before you consider progressing to Level 3. Our focus is to develop good technique, it's not how many moves you know, it's how well you execute the moves you do know.
Level 3 is for dancers that have completed Level 2 or have a solid understanding of the basic fundamentals like the Cross Body Lead (CBL) and the Right Turn (RT). Without these fundamentals, there are no Inline Turns or Spins which is what Level 3 partly focuses on. Some might think that the CBL and the RT are easy and they might be, we just like to be thorough. Always remember, "It's more fun when you're good at it". Level 3 has eight modules so there is plenty to learn.
This is where the real fun begins! You've put in the many, many months of hard work through all the levels and modules. You now have a real respect for the music and the dance and you understand why the fundamentals are so important. There are eight modules of Shines and Turn Patterns which are challenging in themselves but the real challenge is having the freedom to modify or add to the material, this is the expectation. Our mission is to develop dancers that are able to express themselves.
